When it got dark, the only lights in the apartment were harsh, white overhead lights. The shelves were dusty and the contents old and disorderly. In the kitchen, utensils and glasses were dirty. The negatives started to reveal themselves one by one. The kitchen was spacious with lots of counter space. The place was huge and all 3 bedrooms had their own bed and working tables. 3 bedrooms! 2 baths! We met Dina and first impressions were good. So what do you do? And how do you avoid bad Airbnb stays? We learned a few things through our bad experiences and it’s changed some of our Airbnb practices. But we also had a couple of really bad Airbnb experiences. During that time most of our experiences were good, some even excellent. During our 6 years of full-time travel we averaged over 300 nights/year in Airbnb apartments.
